Preemptive layout 5G generation mobile computing business opportunities, Arm (5G) launched three IP products before Computex 2018, including Cortex-A76 CPU, Mali-G76 GPU and Mali-V76 VPU to improve the game and AR/VR experience, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning ability. Through these three new products, Arm will continue to strengthen the company's competitive advantage in the mobile field, and also enhance the operational effectiveness of mobile terminal devices such as smartphones, lithography, and PC.
Nandan Nayampally, vice president of Arm and general manager of customer and business, said that 5G will drive the entire mobile industry innovation. The upcoming 5G networking applications, including VR, AI, or mobile games, will lead to more computational growth, and there will be more different computing needs in the future.
Nayampally further points out that, in addition, the game industry has become one of the largest markets in the world, and is expected to reach $137 billion 900 million in 2018, which also drives consumer demand for computing efficiency. To this end, the company introduces three new processors, Cortex-A76, Mali-G76 and Mali-V76, which can be widely used in mobile computing, AR/VR and other immersive experiences, as well as in AI and deep learning.
It is reported that Cortex-A76 is based on the Arm's DynamIQ technology, and has improved 35% efficiency and 40% efficiency compared with last year's Cortex-A75; it can provide 4 times the operational effectiveness for AI/ML on terminal devices and achieve a fast and secure experience on PC and smartphones.
Mali-G76 is designed to meet the needs of highly efficient gaming and cross platform experience. This product is more efficient than the previous generation of Mali-G72 GPU, as well as an increase of 30% efficiency density, not only to meet the needs of consumers to play the high level games at any time, but also to provide more efficiency space for developers to write more new applications, to bring more high-end games to mobile applications, or Integrate AR/VR into life.
Finally, as the UHD 8K demand rises gradually, to ensure IP can support smart phone and other device coding and decoding operations, Arm will launch Mali-V76 to support 8K resolution of up to 60fps or 4K streaming films of four 60fps, and consumers can simultaneously stream four 4K resolution films, video conferencing films, or 4K. Watching four games, or at a lower resolution, still has a high resolution quality (Full HD), and can support up to 16 videos to make up a 4 * 4 TV wall.
